The Carson City Board of Supervisors got an eyeful of progress Thursday morning on plans that are moving ahead toward completion of the Lake Tahoe hiking and biking project along the east shore of the lake. Project managers are still taking public input on what will be among some of the finishing touches on the east shore project. It’s been underway for well over ten years but the finish line appears within reach – sometime after 2022.
The project is adding parking areas and transit bus services for locals and visitors to access the dramatically upgraded pathways through some of the most beautiful spots on this Earth – Lake Tahoe.
Included in the final phases are moving utility lines underground, restrooms, transit service drop off and pickup, and expanded parking – some with experimental parking fees.
The estimated time for completion is not precisely known because funds to finish the break-taking project are not formally available…but are predicted to arrive just in time to complete the eastern shore loop.
