Heavily armed Carson City Sheriff’s deputies surrounded a large apartment building at Airport and Menlo Streets Saturday afternoon and much of the evening trying to coax out a wanted man hiding in an apartment on the ground floor.
Inside apartment #2 was Sean Alstead wanted for parole violations out of Texas and had successfully eluded Nevada Highway Patrolmen Friday evening.
But Alstead’s freedom was cut short Saturday night when Sheriff’s deputies were tipped off as to where Alstead was hiding out – in a ground floor apartment at Airport next to Menlo. Sheriff’s deputies surrounded the building but Alstead refused to open the door. So deputies just patiently waited for Alstead to surrender. Deputies were negotiating with him over the phone.
Eventually Alstead came out and was quickly handcuffed and led to the back seat of a Sheriff’s Patrol SUV. Alstead wound up being his own worst enemy because although he was a free man on parole, he was ordered to stay in Texas. But he fled to his girlfriend’s apartment in Carson City. For violating his parole he will be going back to prison in Texas. Alstead was said to have a rather long criminal record. A Texas Ranger will be picking up Alstead in a few days and flying him back to Texas and quite likely a lengthy prison sentence.
