The Brewery Arts Center is back to being the owner of itself. Carson City Supervisors gave the historical icon back to the Brewery Arts Center board and staff during Thursday morning’s Board of Supervisors meeting. The original ownership change to the city was to enable the BAC to take advantage of big federal grant dollars to help bring the grand olde building back to health as relating to the 200th anniversary of the founding of our nation, 1776.
As part of the ownership switch the BAC staff gets the Center and the one block of Minnesota Street to the west. The BAC already owns the old Catholic Church on the west side of the parking lot which is an open-air concert venue of growing acclaim.
Official transfer of ownership of the BAC building from the city to the BAC staff and board is expected to happen within the next 40 days, if not sooner.
