Mayor Bob Crowell a playful child cut the ribbon formally opening the new Schulz Park to accommodate the new neighborhood that was recently constructed with more on the way.
Mayor Crowell remarked that a park this size came from funds not only from the city, but also from the Schulz housing developer who has kids of his own. Mayor Crowell reminded the crowd that parks are a key element in building close knit communities like Carson City where citizens can gather informally, have picnics together, watch their children play together and have everyone just get to know each other. There’s even plenty of room for outdoor sports like football, catch, and neighborhood badminton games and more. The big expansive sunken green field will in the middle of the park will accommodate all that while doubling as an intake area for local flood mitigation. Several other parks are expected to be added to the city’s portfolio in the years ahead.
