A pretty good turn-out at the Carson Nugget Thursday evening among neighbors of the Anderson Ranch area. They were, and remain, concerned about a 230 home subdivision proposed for development west of Mountain Street. Neighbors made is clear that 203 homes in the traditionally large lot west side of Carson City is too many homes even for such a large parcel. They complained that such an increase of homes in such a small area more than challenges the traditional look, feel and function of that part of Carson City.
But the developers contend that although that’s a lot of homes for what’s left of the Anderson Ranch, local streets can handle the added traffic and those additional homes should otherwise fit right in. Many disagreed with that.
At this point in the developer’s application to the city the developer must face the Carson City Board of Supervisors and deal with further public hearings to determine just how many homes should be built and whether those homes will blend in and compliment the existing homes around the Anderson Ranch land.
The issue will be before the Carson City Planning Commission at 5:30pm, Tuesday, December 17th at the Community Center. Whatever the planning commission may decide, the issue will be forwarded the Carson City Board of Supervisors for a final decision.
