Carson City Firefighters raced to the scene of a house fire at Airport and Sherman. The neighbors called 9-1-1 Wednesday afternoon and said thick clouds of black smoke were coming out and rising on the south side of the dwelling. Although no humans were home, two family dogs were home and were promptly rescued. They both appear to be okay.
Firefighters say the fire started about midway between the front and back of the home. Interior and roof damage were considerable. Firefighters told the owners that the dwelling is uninhabitable. The two men who live in the house are being given emergency shelter by the American Red Cross.
Heavy interior damage means the two occupants will not be back in their own home for quite a while. No specific cause has been determined according to firefighters.
