Gov. Steve Sisolak Sunday afternoon ordered temporary closures for public and charter schools across the state to limit the spread of the Corona Virus, aka Covid-19.
Govr. Sisolak said the closure will be in effect until at least April 3rd. He told a gathering in Las Vegas, “I realize this will cause hardships for our families, our students, and our school staff. I assure you we did not reach this decision lightly.”
The move comes amid many requests from teacher unions, public health officials and others to temporarily close schools to slow down the spread of the virus. But obviously it will have a huge impact on Nevada’s half million students enrolled up and down the state. Washoe County schools started a two-week spring break on Friday.
