11:35am Carson City Fire-Rescue personnel are heading up an Ash Canyon trail to rescue a mountain biker who took a bad fall near the Ash Canyon water tank. Initial reports from the scene indicate the bike rider has hurt his back and rib cage. A rescue medical helicopter is being summoned to the scene, or close by to it, depending on landing terrain.
11:42am Accident is said to be a mile up from the Ash Canyon water tank.
1:10pm The injured young man was retrieved by Carson City Fire Personnel and put aboard a CalStar medical helicopter which flew him to Renown. His injuries are considerable although not likely fatal. The young man was dirt bicycle riding a mile up from the Ash Canyon water tanks. Reports say that he was performing jumps on his bike when he lost control while airborne and he landed hard on the ground.
He was rescued by Carson City Fire Fighters who brought him down on a small mountain jeep. He was quickly reassessed at the helicopter landing area down below and loaded aboard a South Lake Tahoe rescue helicopter. Moments later he was in the air enroute to Renown in Reno.
