Rock and mountain climbing in Nevada can be both exciting and quite deadly. Unfortunately for a young Carson City man it proved deadly last weekend. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office says Tristan Lynn was hiking with friends north of Winnemucca in an area near Singas Creek, well west of the community of Paradise Valley.
Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies say that Lynn and his friends camped out last weekend and were enjoying some rock climbing a few miles up a steep canyon. They say Lynn was trying to get around a large boulder when he lost his grip on the rock. They say Lynn fell 25 feet downslope. Unfortunately his grip on the rock had also dislodged it and it came plummeting down slope and hit him.
Because Lynn and his fellow climbers were so far from help, it took a while to get him air-lifted to a hospital in Winnemucca. Tragically he died soon after his arrival.
