A Carson City man was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon on a Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy, among other offenses. Rigoberto Vega exited his car, pulled a knife and charged at a deputy who was standing in front of the sheriff’s office. The deputy pulled his gun out and Vega threw his knife on the ground all the while screaming obscenities at the deputy.
The deputy ordered Vega to the ground. He complied and was cuffed. Vega continued to yell and taunt the officers, daring them to shoot him.
A search of Vegas vehicle produced several bottles of alcohol, some marijuana and several weapons. There were other weapons in the vehicle’s center console including a 14 inch buck knife. Other items were also discovered.
It was a short walk to the jail where he was booked for multiple offenses and Vega’s bail was set at $20,000.
