8:30am Carson City Firefighters this morning responded to a report of a natural gas leak at 1776 Brush Drive. Initial reports indicated the family was replacing a fence post when they accidentally punctured an underground natural gas line about three feet underground.
8:40am Family is being evacuated.
Arriving Carson City Fire-Rescue crews quickly cleared the immediate area. They stood by while the gas company patched the leaking line behind the house.
Carson City Firefighters would like to remind all Carson City residents that before you dig anywhere on your property it’s best to know where things are “down there.” To prevent what happened on Brush Drive today just pick up the phone and dial 8-1-1. The gas company will come out to your home, use an “underground radar” device to locate your underground pipes…mark the ground so you know what’s down there and how far down – so you don’t get a blast of natural gas when you dig. And when you dial 8-1-1 you can “dial with a smile” because there is NO CHARGE for the gas company to come out and mark the EXACT ROUTE of your pipes and/or underground utilities.
