Swept up in today’s national wave of rectifying still lingering racial prejudices against black Americans, many Nevadans are quickly trying to make up for Nevada’s biased actions against black individuals and their families living in the Silver State.
To that end, it’s been decided to try to have former Senator Pat McCarran’s statue removed from the U.S. National Statuary Hall in Washington DC. The upcoming special Nevada Legislative Session will take up the matter of removing McCarran’s statue and replacing it with another celebrated Nevada figure who was not of McCarran’s prejudicial leanings – especially against blacks during the first half of the 20th Century.
