When you put the words “rail” and “bike” together and you put the contraption on railroad tracks, you get a whole new view of the Carson River Canyon. Just get on one of a number of RAILBIKES up on Flint Road, and hold on tight for a lot of fun!
The Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T Railway Thursday signed a contract with a group that intends to put a number of passenger “Rail Bikes” on the tracks starting at Flint Road. Up to 10 of them. But instead of heading up to Virginia City, you’re headed down hill over two miles along the Carson River. Yep, they got tracks down there…
The V&T Railway Commission says the “Freedom Rail” group will provide the Rail Bikes, each with four aboard, to navigate all the way down to the river and all the way back up. And no, you don’t have to kill yourself pedaling back up hill. There’s an electric motor that does most of the work!
The commission seemed very pleased with the idea and signed a contract with the group that will provide the rail bikes. They figure they can launch the inaugural run down to the river on August 1st. Great views! Great exercise!!
