Carson City Supervisors meetings are offering a series of discussions that struggle to get their minds around how to deal with the continued outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic virus. Supervisors learned this week that Carson City still has a rising number of infectious cases among the local population. The only thing that seems to push down Covid numbers is for humans to stay at home and out of the way. But that’s not always possible.
Carson City has been laboring hard under the latest viral surges. But it’s not just up to local residents to beat it back – tourists must participate too. But experience has taught us that the more visitors arrive from the outside world the harder it is for Carson area natives to show progress in fighting the virus on their home turf. Many out of town visitors bring the virus with them – even if they have no symptoms. They call it “A symptomatic” and those with this condition can infect everyone around them and not know that it’s happening. Testing and tracing is the best way to track down the sources of the Covid-19 Virus. But the U.S., including Carson City, doesn’t test anywhere near enough individuals to accurately determine the spread of the virus except by keeping track of who winds up testing positive or who lands in the hospital or a funeral home.
The bottom line seems to be in practicing survival; 1) Wear a mask away from home, 2) wear a mask at work, 3) stay at least 6 feet away from a friend, co-worker or anyone else, 4) wash your hands at least 10 times a day, and 5) avoid large crowds or gatherings.
Carson City medical officials say many citizens are practicing these and other protective measures but there are many others who just can’t accept that the country IS having a problem with a virus they can’t even see. It’s possibly why the overall rate of infection for the virus is now rising in many areas of the country, including Carson City.
It’s getting plain to see that what will save us is the breakthrough of an effective anti-Covid-19 vaccine that will help slow the rate of Covid-19 fatalities.
In the meantime the war rages against Covid-19 as the world cooks up various treatments. There’s been no official word on when the vaccines will be ready. Maybe by late December or early January – if we’re lucky. REAL lucky!
