A man being held inside the Carson City Jail tried to escape by digging his way out of the building. He was in a holding cell that had lighting fixtures overhead…fixtures that appeared to be removable. So the inmate tried. And he succeeded…sorta.
The inmate was able to pull out a light fixture and then went to work on pulling out ceiling materials so he could crawl up into the crawl space above the holding area.
As it turned out, the inmate wandered among the wires and posts and was finally making enough noise that jail guards knew there was something up. So they figured out where the would-be escaping inmate was. They brought him down and checked him for injuries. Then they escorted him to a more secure jail cell.
Nice try. But it’s going to be added to whatever charges were already on the books against him.
