Emerson Street Townhomes get the green light…

Emerson Street Home Development
It’s taken a while but the Emerson Street home development has gotten the green light from the city to build 37 townhomes at Emerson and College Parkway northwest of Walmart. The project was held up over an issue dealing with the development’s loop road that the developer wanted to become a city street rather than being labeled a circle driveway.
The city initially balked at the developer’s request that it become a city street. The developer said the street inside the development is much like any other street with lots of houses on them. But the city responded saying that it’s a private driveway loop – not a city street.
In the end, the city relented and agreed to call it a city street. But the city requested that the developer pay the city sufficient funds to re-slurry the roadway in about ten years after wear and tear on the road surface. The developer said they’d pay the cost up front. The developer said construction could start in late summer or early fall.
