Governor Sisolak headed for home and slid across home plate just in time to help low income renters get another bundle of cash so they don’t get kicked out of their rented apartments or homes.
Governor Sisolak funneled ten million dollars in federal funds aimed directly at the above dilemma. The rental assistance program which kicks in as soon as the current program ends on Tuesday will help those who have lost their jobs and are down to their pocket change.
The rent checks will go directly to the landlords which makes the transfer fairly easy. And it’s good for another 45 days after which another renters relief program may kick in another rent subsidy.
Looking ahead, the program provides an eviction mediation program – through the courts if necessary. Part of the program is to set up a payment plan for past rent and enough time, hopefully, to pay it off.
Again the program kicks off Tuesday, September 1st.
