In a real head-shaker of a story, a young man by the name of Matthew Nowak allegedly went in to Walmart at the north end of town, put air soft guns, walkie-talkies and pet food in his cart and then proceeded toward an exit without paying for the merchandise.
Sheriff’s Deputies say Nowak was confronted by a store worker and told him to stop and pay for the items whereupon Nowak pulled out a stun gun. And it was sparking.
The worker backed away and Nowak headed out the door with his stolen goods.
Walmart called the Sheriff’s Office and deputies arrived in a few minutes…giving Nowak just enough time to disappear across the street near Starbucks. Deputies quickly learned Nowak had soon-after headed for a nearby gas station, and there they found him in the men’s room. Deputies spotted the stun gun in a trash can and quickly placed him under arrest. Nowak’s bail was set at $20,000 for theft and assault with a deadly weapon.
