Carson City Sheriff’s Deputies broke up a retail fraud ring operating in Carson City and Reno. Deputies later learned the trio of fraudsters had been operating not only in Nevada but also in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Wyoming.
The accused thieves admitted to what they had been doing – walking into Lowe’s and Home Depot stores, taking merchandise up to the “Returns Counter” and asking for their money back which the stores obliged, giving the thieves charge cards worth the same value as the “returned” merchandise which was valued from $400 and up.
It was the Carson City Lowe’s store’s employees who noticed, by observing store security cameras, that the accused thieves had been very busy ripping off the store. Sheriff’s Deputies were called and they arrested all three suspects and booked them for not only theft but also possession of illegal drugs.
