Fire at the Carson City Landfill
5:26pm Fire at the Carson City Landfill. Carson City Firefighters are enroute to the landfill. Fire is creeping toward the south end of the landfill.
5:35pm Numerous fire engines arriving on scene. Firefighters should have just enough sunlight to track down most of the fire.
5:39pm Arriving firefighters report the fire is 80 feet by 15 feet. This shouldn’t take long. Normally this kind of fire requires an all night watch to ensure it doesn’t re-erupt.
5:44pm Firefighters on scene calling for two or three water tenders – especially the big one operated by city Public Works. Also call for a bulldozer to move the debris around so water spray can access all areas of the fire.
