12:20pm Report of a private aircraft making a rough landing in a field east of Fremont School. Miraculously no one was injured. Two young women emerged from the craft saying they were flying from Truckee to the Carson City Airport on a training flight. The instructor said they lost power on approach to the airport and the engine quit. The instructor took the controls and glided the aircraft to the ground and landed in a field right behind Fremont School. No injuries to the women and apparently little to no damage to the aircraft.
Veteran pilots always say, “any landing you walk away from is a good landing.” The aircraft will be towed to the Carson-Tahoe Airport where mechanics will determine why the plane’s engine stopped.
