The Nevada Division of Insurance passed an emergency regulation earlier this year to make sure there will be no out-of-pocket costs to Nevadans’ covered by health insurance for COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.
Nevadans who have individual health plans, small or large group plans as well as catastrophic plans will be covered to receive the COVID-19 vaccine without any co-payment, co-insurance or other form of cost-sharing. Nevadans who don’t health insurance can go to Nevada Health Link or seek help through a federally qualified health center.
State and local governments will be informing communities statewide about how, where and when the vaccine will be available. Suffice it to say if you’re not a critically important medical worker, law enforcement officer, a teacher elderly or suffer from a unique disease, getting a vaccine shot may be a few months away. But check with Carson City’s Health Department for information as to when and who is offering the vaccine.
