A young couple were lucky to survive a high hazard accident on Parkland Street, just off Saliman Monday afternoon. From the skid marks and damage to the car, it appears the couple was headed southbound on Parkland and didn’t make the sharp curve onto Cardinal. The vehicle started going sideways on the curve, hit the curb, went down an embankment and into a drainage ditch where it finally stopped. Had it kept going the vehicle could have landed upside down in the water-filled ditch. And an upside down car in a ditch is hard to get out of.
Sheriff’s deputies were analyzing the skid marks and impact damage to the curb. Both occupants were up and walking around. A traffic citation seemed to be in the works.
