What was described as a pack of wild dogs invaded the Lone Mountain Cemetery area Friday evening, pouncing on a small herd of deer. The deer scattered but the dogs were quicker, badly injuring some of the deer – one of them dying. Wildlife personnel were quickly dispatched from Reno and upon arrival they managed to save some of the deer.
Those who live in the Lone Mountain Cemetery area are asked to keep a sharp look-out for deer and dogs running at large. It looks to be a rather rough summer for wildlife. Hopefully the remaining deer will stick to the outer edges of the city where they can more easily escape any threatening dogs or cougars.
