Gov. Steve Sisolak has issued a directive that indoor Covid-19 masks will be required indoors effective July 30.
The directive applies to 12 of Nevada’s 17 counties – excluding rural counties like Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Pershing and Storey counties. No explanation given.
The Governor said the order comes after the Centers for Disease Control pointed out that to too many citizens have simply refused getting their shots and then passing on the virus to untold numbers of citizens.
He said the 12 counties including Carson and Douglas as well as Washoe County are at risk for infecting more people if they refuse to get their shot(s).
The new CDC guidelines also recommend universal masking for all teachers, students and visitors to K-12 schools no matter if they’ve gotten their shot(s) or not.
While businesses have a three day grace period under Governor Sisolak’s orders, he urged them to adopt the mask rules as soon as possible. The Delta version of the virus is far, far, far more deadly than any former virus.
