Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine for Those Ages 5 to 11
Available at CCHHS Community Events Starting November 8th.

(Carson City, NV) – Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) will be offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for those ages 5 to 11 years at community COVID-19 vaccination events throughout the Quad-County Region (Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County, and Storey County) starting November 8, 2021. For dates, locations, and times of the CCHHS community vaccination events please visit https://gethealthycarsoncity.org/events/.

Following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issuing an Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to be used in individuals ages 5 to 11 on October 29, and the official recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on November 2, CCHHS will be offering Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for those ages 5 to 11 at all community COVID-19 events starting November 8, 2021. This provides adequate time for vaccinators to review the information provided by the CDC to ensure they can answer any questions parents might have. At this time, the only COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized for use in those ages 5 to 11 is the Pfizer vaccine.

Children ages 5 through 11 years receive one-third of the adult dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Adolescents ages 12 years and older receive the same dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as adults. Your child will need a second shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine 3 weeks after their first shot.

CCHHS will continue to offer all 3 COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen) at the community COVID-19 vaccine clinics. First and second doses are available, and third doses of Pfizer or Moderna are available for those who are immunocompromised. Booster shots for all 3 vaccines are also available at community events for those who are eligible. COVID-19 Vaccine Record Card or a printout of official vaccination record is required for second, third, and booster doses.

Remember, it is not too late to receive your first dose! The CDC recommends everyone ages 5 and older get a COVID-19 vaccine to help protect against COVID-19. To find upcoming CCHHS COVID-19 vaccination events visit https://gethealthycarsoncity.org/events/.
